1. You should be well-lit. Without light, you can’t get beautiful, well-exposed photos. Beware of shadows; they can create unflattering photos.
2. Frame the photograph from the chest up and include sufficient background space around your head and shoulders.
3. Eye contact is one of the most important elements of a great headshot. Make sure you are looking directly at the camera.
