How to create a stellar Andela profile

Your Andela profile is what connects you with opportunities. Like a resume or a CV, it summarizes your skills, work history, and attributes. When we find a match for your skillset, we send your profile to the client. Read this article or the PDF attached below to learn more about the importance of your Andela profile.

How it works

Your profile will be pre-populated with information imported from your application. Please carefully review the parsed text and ensure that it is accurate. You can use the profile editing feature to make corrections or add missing information.

Watch the video below to learn more about how to edit your profile.

Your profile is comprised of several sections:

  • Skills (Tech Stack)
  • Professional Summary
  • Work Experience
  • Education
  • Technical Projects

Skills (Tech Stack)

This section forms the basis of our Matching team’s searches to pair you with the right job. While you may work with many more technologies than that, choose the ones you feel you are an expert in for this section. Additional skills and tools can be mentioned in the other sections of your profile.

Professional Summary

This important section provides a focused snapshot of your experience, skills, and attributes. It’s short but impactful. Think about the big picture—what are you amazing at? What are you passionate about? What can you help clients achieve?—then add specifics where you can to prove it. This is your reader’s first impression, so make it count.

Be sure to include your primary languages, years of experience, leadership experience, certifications, and areas of expertise.

Examples and tips for writing your professional summary:

  • Write this section in the third person, talking about yourself as if you were someone else (e.g., “Jonah is a full stack developer…”)
  • Mention your primary technology stack, number of years of professional experience, and any industry expertise you have
  • Aim for at least three complete sentences
  • Some people find it helpful to write this part last after they’ve had a chance to reflect on their work history as a whole
  • Don’t forget to include a presentable, professional profile photo
