To join the Andela Network, applicants will often start by taking our online English fluency test. This test evaluates your English communication skills through three video-recorded tasks related to your professional experience. You'll need to show your grasp of grammar, vocabulary, idioms, and your ability to express ideas clearly in writing.

After you have completed your sign-up to join the Network, you will get an email to take your timed English test. We don’t restrict anyone from taking the test, but your application will be reviewed at any step of the process — so it’s important to ensure you meet our eligibility requirements and disqualification guidelines. It's crucial to complete it on your own, without help from others. While teamwork is valuable, we need to assess your individual language skills for accurate results.

The English test typically lasts thirty minutes and can only be taken once, so be prepared before starting. Since it's AI-based, make sure to speak for at least one minute for each question. If you don't pass, you can reapply after ninety days to retake the test, giving you more time to prepare. Successfully completing this test shows you have the strong communication skills needed for any Andela role.

For some applicants, the English test is skipped. Here are possible reasons why your English test would show as skipped in your certification dashboard. If you experience any technical issues or have questions during the test, please submit a request for assistance. We're here to help and look forward to supporting you on your Andela journey!
