We are pleased to announce the launch of the Andela x OpenAI Codex Accelerator, a 3-week learning program designed to help you build practical proficiency in OpenAI Codex for real-world software development workflows.
This is a focused, execution-driven experience that combines structured self-paced learning, live workshops, and project ideation. You will move beyond passive consumption to building high-impact, AI-powered automation workflows.
Program Structure

Duration: 3 weeks total ~6 hours per week.
- Weeks 1-2: Structured learning + 4 Live Workshops.
- Week 3: Dedicated capstone project design, building, and submission.
- Delivery: Self-paced learning + 4 live workshops
- Capstone Project Submission: Learners will be required to design and submit a capstone project as a competition entry, demonstrating an AI-powered automation workflow built using OpenAI Codex.
- Program showcase: The top five projects will be demoed during our upcoming Nairobi meetup on May 19, happening after GITEX day one, and will feature judges from Andela, OpenAI, and a live attendee vote. The top project will take home a cash prize, and a surprise gift from OpenAI.
Through this program, you will learn how to:
- Optimize Workflows: Set up Codex in CLI, IDE, desktop, and cloud environments.
- Master Prompt Engineering: Apply advanced context engineering to improve coding outcomes.
- End-to-End Engineering: Use Codex for code generation, debugging, refactoring, and planning.
- Agentic Workflows: Understand core concepts behind structured AI-driven automation.
- Rapid Prototyping: Design and implement a capstone project to accelerate delivery.
