Technical Issues - Linux Foundation

This article includes solutions to some of the most common issues and questions related to Linux Foundation and Kubernetes exams.

Scheduling / Cancel / reschedule an Exam

Scheduling and Rescheduling: Candidates are responsible for scheduling, cancelling, or rescheduling their exams. The Support team cannot perform these actions on your behalf.

24-Hour Scheduling Requirement: Exams require a minimum 24-hour lead time, which means the earliest available exam appointment will always be at least 24 hours in advance.

Rescheduling Policy: You cannot reschedule an exam within 24 hours of the scheduled exam date and time.

Calendar Reminder: Once your exam is scheduled, the Exam Checklist includes an option to add the appointment to your calendar, helping ensure you do not miss your exam.

Verified Name Must Match your ID

In the Exam Checklist (trainingportal.linuxfoundation.org), you will find an Identity Verification section with the following instruction: "The first and last name displayed here must match the ID that you will present to the proctor.”

  • If the name on your ID contains non-Latin characters, please include those characters when verifying your name.

  • Before you click “Take Exam,” the verified name will be displayed again so you can confirm that it exactly matches the ID you will present to the proctor.

⚠️ This is your final opportunity to update the registered name on your exam record before launching the exam.

Acceptable ID (Government Issued)

The ID that you present must meet the requirements outlined here

Photocopy or a digital photo of your ID will NOT be accepted

System Requirements

(e.g what OS is supported):

Please make sure the device you plan to use for the exam meets the minimum requirements for the PSI Secure Browser.

  • You must take the exam on a device where you have administrator (admin) privileges, as these are required to install applications and end system processes or services if needed.

  • Ensure that your operating system (OS) is supported before attempting to launch the exam.

⚠️ Important: If your OS is not supported, you will not be able to run the PSI Secure Browser.

For the full list of supported systems and requirements, please review the PSI documentation:

PSI Remote Testing Tutorial:

When you schedule an exam with PSI, the “Preparing for Your Exam” section in the Exam Checklist includes a link to the PSI Remote Testing Tutorial.

The tutorial will help familiarize you with the PSI Secure Browser process (download, install & launch) and help you identify any hardware or software issues your device may have when running the secure browser.

Testing Location Rules & Policies

Please review and follow all testing rules during your exam session. This includes the following:

  • You cannot take the exam from a shared or public location.

  • You cannot leave the webcam view without the proctor’s permission.

  • You cannot cover your face during the exam.

  • You cannot read the exam questions out loud.

Failure to follow these rules may result in termination of your exam session.

Network must be reliable & robust - Some errors learners are reporting, which is due to local Network settings or reliability are:

“Exam content does not load” “DNS Error”

“System is Loading”

“Camera is no longer working” “Your network has fallen below an acceptable rate…”

“Unable to connect to the proctor”

Please use a reliable internet connection when taking your exam. You can test your connection using the PSI diagnostic tool:
https://video-diagnostics.twilio.com/

  • Avoid corporate networks or VPNs, as firewalls may block access. Use a personal device and network if possible.

  • wired connection is usually more stable than Wi-Fi.

  • Schedule your exam when network traffic is low.

  • Ensure others on the same network are not using high bandwidth (video calls, streaming, gaming, etc.).

  • If issues occur, try a different device or network.

  • Antivirus or firewall software may interfere with the secure browser; disable them if necessary

Taking the Exam

You must launch your exam within 30 minutes before or after your scheduled start time.

Typical timing for the launch process:

  • Secure Browser installation: ~5 minutes

  • Check-in and exam launch: ~15 minutes

If it takes more than 15 minutes to install the Secure Browser or connect with a check-in specialist, this may indicate a network issue.

If you experience delays, please restart your computer and begin the “Take Exam” process again.

If you get disconnected from your exam session

If the “Take Exam” button is no longer active - but you were in your exam session (answering questions) and then you got disconnected - you can re-start the Bridge
