  • What is Sophos Endpoint? Sophos Endpoint is an endpoint protection product. Typically, endpoint protection works as an application on your laptop that detects and protects you from most threats targeting your device.It combines anti-malware/anti-virus, web and application protection, external device protection and much more.
  • Why do I need to have Sophos EndPoint installed on my machine?

  • Is having Sophos mandatory? Yes, Having the Sophos EndPoint Protection on your device is mandatory. However, Partner-managed devices are exempted.
  • What platforms does Sophos Endpoint support? At the moment, only devices running Windows or MacOS can be protected. 
  • How do I get started? You should have gotten an email from Welcome to Sophos Central with your “Firstname. Lastname” as the subject. This email contains instructions on how to get started. 
  • What is Tamper Proof Protection? Tamper protection enables the administrator to prevent unauthorized users (local administrators and users with limited technical knowledge) and known malware from uninstalling Sophos security software or disabling it through the Sophos Endpoint Security and Control interface.
  • How long does it take to install the agent? The agent takes about 10-15mins for the agent to download and install depending on your internet connection. 
  • Why am I getting notifications? Sophos Endpoint protection notifies via email when it comes across a Malware and PUAs on a protected device. Malware is a general term for malicious software. It includes viruses, worms, trojans and spyware.
  • What are PUAs and are they harmful? Potentially unwanted applications (PUA) are programs that aren't malicious, such as dialers, remote administration tools and hacking tools, but are generally considered unsuitable for most business networks.
  • What is malicious traffic? Malicious traffic is traffic between computers that indicates a possible attempt to take control of the Mac.
  • What is Real-time scanning? Scanning of items as users attempt to access them and deny access unless they are clean. 
  • What does Sophos scan? 
    • Peripheral Control lets the Administrator control access to peripherals and removable media. 
    •  Application Control lets Administrator detect and block applications that are not a security threat.
    • Web Control lets the Administrator detect and block malicious websites.
  • Does Sophos EndPoint affect my device performance? Sophos Endpoint does not slow down the performance of your device, However Sophos Endpoint Protection helps to speed up your device by protecting it against malicious actors. 
  • How does Sophos Endpoint affect my privacy? The Sophos Endpoint Agent installed on your device does not interfere with any Personal data stored on your device, it also does not collect data from your web browser.
