Sophos Services Not Running

Sometimes, after installing Sophos Endpoint on  a machine, some Sophos services requiring system-level access to detect and clean threats do not get granted automatically.

Although it is peculiar to user machines,  the commonly affected services are :

  • SophosScanDLegacy
  • SophosCryptoGuardLegacy
  • SophosEventMonitorLegacy
  • SophosWebIntelligenceLegacy

One would therefore need to add these permissions manually; on such occasions, please run the user (progressively) through the steps outlined below.

Manually Authorizing from System Preferences

  • Navigate to System Preferences > Security & Privacy
  • Click on the Privacy Tab and select Full Disk Access from the left-hand pane.
  • Click on the padlock at the bottom left to authenticate and allow changes.
  • Click on the  '+'  (Add an application) icon and on the next prompt.
