How can I prepare for an Andela Qualify test?

Here are some tips to help you succeed on an Andela Qualify test as a certified technologist:

  1. Practice coding challenges on Codewars: Before taking any test, it’s always a good idea to practice! If you're testing on a coding language, practice for free by completing challenges on Codewars. With over 10,000 challenges to choose from spanning 58 programming languages, Codewars is the ultimate place to train before taking your skills test.
  2. Make your first attempt count: There is a 30-day waiting period to retake a skills test after a failed attempt, so make sure you prepare well before jumping in. We recommend reviewing fundamental concepts to give you the best chance of success.
  3. Set aside dedicated time to take your assessment: Each skills test provides an estimated time for completion. You will not be stopped from completing your skills test if you exceed the time estimate. However, some of the challenges do have time limits, so be sure to read the description before you attempt your test. You will be notified before beginning any timed challenge, and you can pause between challenges if needed.
  4. Turn on your webcam: To ensure the integrity of skills test results, you will be requested to turn on your webcam while taking your test. You may decline, but this will discontinue your test. Information on your recorded data and privacy can be found here.
  5. Test challenges are eliminatory: If you fail the first section of your skills test, you won’t be able to achieve an overall passing score, as this section covers fundamental concepts and is considered a critical portion of the test. However, don't quit! We still encourage you to complete the test because passing the next two sections proves your real-world abilities.
